Tonight at I-94 BMX 8 we had a tragic accident. 8 year old Alyssa Martin, daughter of I-94 BMX track director Cameron Martin was seriously injured. During our intermission before the mains we have give aways and play games. Tonight, the game for the kids was to line up and have a Tug-of-War. All of the kids in even motos on one side and all the odd on the other. Alyssa apparently had the rope wrapped around her hand when the game began. When the rope tightened, her fingers were caught. Three of her fingers were severed on her left hand. She is currently on her way by ambulance to North Memorial Hosp in Mnpls. to try to save them.
The Martin family has been in this sport for quite a few years and have helped a lot of kids, including my own, get started in it. Now they need our help, our support and our prayers.
We will be organizing a fund raiser at I-94 BMX to help with the medical bills. If anyone would like to participate it would be greatly appreciated. I will update the site with how Alyssa is doing as soon as we hear. Information on where to send cards and flowers will be posted on http://www.i94bmx.com/ as soon as we know.
